Curtin Rugby seeking Head Coach for 2018
Curtin University Rugby Club, located in Bentley, has been playing in the Perth metropolitan competition since 1969. Over the last decade the club has seen an unprecedented run of success that includes the culmination of four major premierships and inclusion in every finals series since 2008.
The Goats, as we are affectionately known, has an enviable club culture which is borne out of a rich multicultural, student-centred history and one which values club unity and camaraderie across all teams in equal value to on-field success.
The club currently fields 3 senior men’s teams and one women’s team.
As a social community rugby club, we rely on volunteers to ensure the success and longevity of our club. As such, this position is an unpaid volunteer position and would require a regular weekly commitment of running training on Tuesday and Thursday night and attendance at all Saturday games during the season.
The Role – Head Coach:
We seek a Head Coach that holds similar values to our Club and boasts a work ethic that seeks to obtain the very best from our players. The Head Coach will be responsible for coaching 1st Grade and providing direction and co-ordination for a whole of club playing strategy.
In conjunction with the President and Vice President of Rugby Operations, the Head Coach will develop and lead a whole club program and strategy that includes:
· Clear goals, standards and KPI’s to ensure continued on-field success;
· Ensures player growth, development and buy-in;
· Assist in player recruitment and retention;
· Meets the challenges of the new 2018 competition structure; and
· Aligns and adds to the Club Culture.
The selection criteria are as follows:
o Extensive demonstrated coaching experience (World Rugby Level 2 qualification preferred);
o Significant demonstrated experience coaching senior grades, including coaching players of varying abilities and high-performance players;
o Willingness to work with and mentor other Team Coaches
o Experience working with players from a wide variety of backgrounds and age groups;
o Well-rounded knowledge of all facets of rugby union, including both forwards and backs coaching experience;
o Sound knowledge of the current laws of the game;
o Strong verbal and written communication skills;
o Flexible with time and easily contactable, and
o Familiar with and comfortable using social media platforms for the purpose of player contact and coordination
o Experience in developing and driving multi-grade or whole club game plans and match play strategies
o Experience with running rugby focused strength and conditioning programs
o Familiar with the Perth rugby landscape
