Game #400 for Jello.
On July 17th a Curtin Rugby Club warrior plays his 400th game against an old foe (Southern Lions). This an amazing achievement and a first for the club! Getting this number of games under your belt in a University team is incredible as player turnover is high and only 4 other players in the club have even managed 300 games.
Njalikwa Chongwe, aka Jello, aka Prince of Darkness, started his illustrious career at the club as a colt in 1983, was part of the club when Southern Lions split off in 1987, and has received many accolades since.
His representative honours are numerous; he has captained the side to it's only 2 premierships, played in the Combined University games against touring clubs, and represented the WA “City” side in games against WA Country and against NSW Under 21s. He has won the club’s Best and Fairest and Players' Player awards on numerous occasions. He is also set to make his international debut in the Bali 10's this October.
Jello is a highly regarded, well respected player, both on and off the field. With a mischievous streak a mile wide, it is a wonder he has lasted this long. Photos RugbyWA article
