- Club announcement:
The club is pleased to announce it plans to develop an alliance between the Irish Expats, the Knackered Goats and Curtin Rugby Club.
Irish Expats are a Golden Oldies rugby club that was formed 30 years ago when the World Golden Oldies Rugby Festival was held in Perth.
The Expats have always had a close but informal association with the Goats, with many of the Expats previously playing for the Goats and being foundation members of the club and a number have been on the presidents and are life members of the Goats.
Golden Oldies rugby is played in carnival format every two to three weeks, under the masters’ rules (over 35 year old) …….the game tackle (but toned down) no blowing out or rucking, uncontested scrums/line outs, you can only run 20 meters and there is no scoring.
There are also special concessions for the more senior players or players with long term injuries, which are demarcated by special coloured shorts. The over 35 rule is not strictly enforced as long as you play in the spirit of the rules!
